Ulysses S. Grant, born Hiram Ulysses Grant, 1822-1885. 18th President of the United States, 1869-1877. Superb dark brown ink signature on a 4" x 1½" piece clipped from a document imprinted on the back. Countersigned by Secretary of State Hamilton Fish (1808-1893), and hence signed by Grant as President. There are mounting traces on the reverse, but otherwise the piece is in extra fine condition.
